Hiring and Recalls
The respondents of the first HR Trends survey of 2010, for the most part (70%) do not anticipate their organizations hiring or recalls be increasing or decreasing over the next month. 20 percent of employers surveyed do anticipate their hiring or recall of employees to increase over the next month.

Lay-offs
Those surveyed in the printing and graphic communications industry do not expect lay-offs of employees to increase over the next month. 90 percent of employers expect their lay-offs will remain static, while 10 percent anticipate their lay-offs will decrease over the next month.

Training
Training budgets in the printing and graphic communications industry, as reported by the survey respondents, are expected for the most part to be on par with the amounts allocated to training in the previous year. 90 percent responded their training budgets were the same as this time last year. 10 percent noted their training budgets were lower. None of this month’s respondents reported training budgets to be lower than the previous year.

Challenges facing the industry and the human resource implications 
Qualified employees, sales, and anticipating staffing needs are some of the key challenges addressed by the respondents. These concerns have been noted in previous HR Trends Surveys and continue to impact the day-to-day operations of printing and graphic communications firms across the country.
